Pakistan’s javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, will compete in the final round of the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday. He will join India’s Neeraj Chopra and other top athletes like Anderson Peters and Brazil’s Luiz Mauricio Da Silva. The event starts at 11:25 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST), with Nadeem throwing fifth.
To reach the final, athletes needed to achieve a minimum throw of 84 meters, a mark Nadeem surpassed with a throw of 86.59 meters. The top 12 athletes are in the final, with five out of six from Group B advancing directly.
Nadeem, who won silver at the 2023 World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, is Pakistan’s leading contender. He made history as the first Pakistani to win a gold medal since 1962. Notably, Pakistan’s other seven Olympic contingents have not qualified for their respective finals.
