The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Dukes and Kookaburra balls will be introduced for the upcoming domestic season. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and President’s Trophy will now use the Dukes ball, known for its pronounced seam and swing, which benefits fast bowlers and creates more challenging conditions for batsmen.
For One-Day and T20 matches, the Kookaburra ball will be used. Renowned for its consistency and durability, the Kookaburra ball is commonly used in international cricket.
This change comes after extensive consultations with ball manufacturers, aiming to elevate Pakistan’s domestic cricket standards to match international levels. The PCB expects that these new balls will enhance the quality of domestic games and better prepare players for international competition.
A PCB spokesperson noted, “The Dukes balls will aid our fast bowlers in developing their skills under challenging conditions, while the Kookaburra ball will align our shorter formats with international standards, offering our players optimal preparation for global tournaments.” The new season is anticipated to bring an exciting dynamic to domestic cricket in Pakistan.
