The price of sugar at Utility Stores is set to rise by Rs. 5 per kilogram for all consumers under the Prime Minister’s package, according to sources. The new price for subsidized sugar will be Rs. 114 per kg, while non-subsidized sugar will cost Rs. 160 per kg. This increase, effective immediately, is attributed to higher transportation costs.

It bears mentioning that the federal government last month was all set to introduce a substantial relief package for the public through Utility Stores. The package included subsidies on pulses, chickpeas, broken rice, ghee, and sugar.
