Pakistan and Iran have agreed to boost their bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, announced Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday. The two leaders also engaged in delegation-level discussions.
President Raisi stressed the importance of enhancing trade and business activities in border regions to benefit the local populations. He underscored both countries’ determination to combat terrorism and organized crime, expressing hope that his visit would mark a significant step forward in expanding bilateral relations between the people of Pakistan and Iran.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Iran, emphasizing the potential for economic progress and prosperity in border areas. He expressed confidence that President Raisi’s visit would further enhance the bilateral relationship.
Additionally, Pakistan and Iran signed eight agreements and MoUs covering various fields, including security cooperation, judicial assistance in civil matters, and veterinary and animal health, as reported by Radio Pakistan.
