The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa health department has raised serious concerns about a potential dengue outbreak across the province following the recent monsoon rains.

The department has issued an alert to all high-risk districts in the province, instructing them to strengthen surveillance measures.

This year, 80 dengue cases have been reported in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, a decrease compared to last year. Prompt actions by the health department have led to significantly fewer dengue cases in K-P compared to other provinces.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, dengue cases have been reported across 14 districts. Some districts, such as Chitral Lower, Upper Dir, Buner, and Mardan, have each reported only one case. Other districts have reported isolated cases, with Charsadda, Kohat, and Nowshera each recording two cases, and Swat leading with three cases.

The health department has identified seven districts as high-risk areas due to positive cases: Peshawar with 17 cases, Dera Ismail Khan with two, Bannu with 11, Hazara with 13, Kohat with two, Mardan with 10, and Malakand with 20 cases.
