During counter-evasion operations, the IR Field Formations of FBR carried out a nationwide crackdown on counterfeit and unstamped cigarettes, resulting in the seizure of 1,235 packs. Out of 4,652 retail outlets inspected across the country, 33 have been sealed due to involvement in illicit tobacco trade.

It’s worth noting that 204 teams participated in the enforcement drive aimed at curbing the circulation of illicit cigarettes.

FBR Chairman Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana and Member Inland Revenue (Operations) Mir Badshah Khan Wazir commended the dedication of IR field formations involved in the operation. They recognized that despite limited human resources and logistical support, the Inland Revenue Enforcement Network is continuously striving to combat illicit tobacco trade.
