Demonstrating honesty and integrity, a janitor in Islamabad returned Rs. 500,000 to its rightful owner after discovering it while cleaning the streets of Sector G-13.
Noor Masih, a resident of the H-9/2 slum area, diligently carries out sanitation work in Sector G-13. Last week, while performing his routine duties of cleaning the streets, Masih stumbled upon a surprising find. While collecting garbage from several houses along a street, he came across a bag containing a remarkable sum of Rs. 500,000.
After completing his rounds, Masih sat down with his son to discuss their course of action. Committed to principles of honesty and fairness, Masih decided to wait for the rightful owner to claim the money. His patience and moral resolve paid off when Muhammad Akram approached them.
Suspecting Akram might be the owner, Masih recounted finding a significant sum in one of the bins he emptied earlier. Akram confirmed losing a considerable amount of cash, and without hesitation, Masih returned the entire sum, refusing any reward for his honesty.
Although Masih didn’t count the money, Akram later confirmed it was Rs. 500,000. Grateful, Akram rewarded Masih with Rs. 15,000 as a token of appreciation. Reflecting on the incident, Masih reaffirmed his commitment to moral values and ensuring no harm to others.
