Megwarh, a small village near Umerkot, Sindh, with 800 households, holds significance as the birthplace of the great Mughal Emperor Akbar. Coca-Cola has established a filtration plant in the village, capable of dispensing up to 1000 liters per hour.

Using an ultrafiltration system, the solar-powered pump purifies water, eliminating the need for women in the community to travel five kilometers to another pump for water.

For sustainability, the plant is equipped with solar power, GPS tracking, and flow meters. A delegation from Coca-Cola Pakistan visited Umerkot, spending a day with the community to understand its culture and challenges. Megwarh is also known as the village of Marvi, who gained recognition after appearing in Coke Studio Season 15’s song, “Aayi Aayi.”
