The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has explicitly denied suggesting a total ban on the popular social media platform, X.

Earlier reports indicated that the PTA, in conjunction with law enforcement agencies, had proposed a complete ban on X due to its non-compliance with Pakistani laws. However, a PTA spokesperson has now clarified that no such recommendation has been put forward.

The clarification follows reports from certain media outlets claiming a complete ban on X in Pakistan, citing government sources. However, the PTA has confirmed that this information is inaccurate.

It’s noteworthy that social media platforms have been under temporary suspension in Pakistan since February 17, pending a review of their adherence to Pakistani laws. The government has submitted a response to the Islamabad High Court, attributing X’s ban to its non-compliance with local regulations.
