Officially, Pakistan Has Appointed Distinct Foreign Head Coaches For Red-Ball And White-Ball Formats

Pakistan has taken significant steps in its cricketing strategy by appointing Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie as head coaches, with interim head coach Azhar Mahmood now serving as permanent assistant coach across all formats.

Kirsten, assigned to oversee white-ball cricket, will lead the team until the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Gillespie, who will lead the red-ball format, will start his role ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh in August 2024. Both coaches are appointed for a two-year term.

Kirsten, currently involved with the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024, will assume his new role before the T20 World Cup. He brings valuable experience from coaching roles with India and South Africa.

Renowned for his expertise in fast bowling, Gillespie will bring new vigor to Pakistan’s Test squad, beginning with the Bangladesh series.
