The Pakistan Army has demonstrated a commitment to accountability by initiating an inquiry, led by a major general, into the issue involving a private housing society near Islamabad airport.

In November last year, Kunwar Mueez, the proprietor of a private housing society, submitted a constitutional petition under Article 184/3 of the Constitution to the Supreme Court. The petition was directed against six intelligence officials, including former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed.

On November 11, 2023, a bench chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa, alongside Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Athar Minullah, scrutinized the petition during the hearing. Kunwar’s legal representatives contended that the agency officials purportedly engaged in offenses against their client under the purported direction of Faiz Hameed.

Following the assurance provided by the attorney general, the petition was dismissed. According to a national daily, citing sources, an inquiry committee led by a Major General was established after Kunwar Mueez approached the defense ministry in January of this year.
