In March 2023, 185,000 blocks will participate in Pakistan’s first-ever digital population census, which will gather information using a 40-point questionnaire covering eight key topics without the need for Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) for verification.

In the next population census exercise, the 40-point questionnaire will include questions about eight main topics, including family members, essential amenities, demographics, education, health, job, disabilities, and migrations.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) Chief Statistician Dr. Naeem Uz Zafar, the 2023 Census would be the first ever to be conducted digitally in Pakistan. The staff is now prepared for the enormous assignment because all the preparations have been implemented. The whole endeavor is domestic; our specialists developed all of the systems and tools, he claimed.

The ability to self-enumerate will also be made available for the first time. Domestic geotagging will be used to finish the activity. 126,000 census takers from all around the country will be obtaining data from 185,000 zones.

In addition to police officers accompanying the enumerators to offer security in the initial stage, the army will provide impenetrable protection for the 90,000 enumerators. After that, the army will send out its Quick Response Force to oversee general security and supervision of the whole census exercise across the nation.

Each enumerator will be expected to gather information from two blocks throughout March 2023.
