The coalition government boycotts the hearing after Supreme Court rejected their plea to have a full bench hearing.
The three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, and comprising Justice Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar has continued to resume the hearing of the case.
After the coalition government demanded a full bench hearing, the SC rejected their plea and on Tuesday (26th July), continued the hearing of the case of the Punjab CM election.
The lawyers of the coalition PPP, the PA deputy speaker, and PML-Q president Ch Shujaat have also come to the court despite boycotting the decision.
Praising the Supreme Court’s decision on the demand for a full court bench on the Punjab CM election case, Fawad Chaudhry, PTI’s leader has said, “Such cases are heard only by senior judges across the world.”
Fawad also stated, “The government does not recognize the Supreme Court of Pakistan”.
Fawad Chaudhry also said that CJP should not be burdened and that the judiciary should be allowed to function independently.
