Uber Eats has now started delivering cannabis and marijuana in Toronto and users aged 19 and above will be able to place these orders on the Uber Eat mobile app.
Although 4 years a ago Cannabis was banned all over Canada, it has become easily available now in Toronto which is one of the biggest cities in Canada with a population of over 2.9 million.
Uber Eats has partnered with Leafly, which is a popular and well-known online marketplace for marijuana, to start this brand-new delivery service.
Just like restaurant owners, the owners of cannabis store will be able to register themselves on Uber Eats to sell their products directly.
The delivery is only capable for users above 19 and the delivery riders will also confirm the age of the customer by checking their ID.
However, the weed and food delivery services by Uber Eats will be kept separated.
The decision was made after seeing the statics that display 40% of the cannabis sale in Toronto are made through illegal channels. However, with the introduction of a mainstream food delivery app like Uber Eats selling cannabis and delivering it right at your doorstep, these numbers will bound to come down.
