The report was confirmed by Sharif’s wife, Javeria Siddiqui, in an official tweet.

Arshad Sharif anchorperson and senior journalist were shot dead in Nairobi, Kenya. His wife also confirmed that Sharif was shot by the police in a case of “mistaken identity”.

The Star, a popular Kenyan newspaper has reported the incident in detail. According to their report, Sharif was shot in the head by the police over an alleged violation of a roadblock.

A police offer quoted The Star, “We had an incident of shooting, which turned out to be a case of mistaken identity involving a journalist. We will release more information later.”

The police have stated that personnel at the manned roadblock had received information to intercept a carjacking incident that involved a child taken hostage allegedly. The reported car was similar to the one Sharif was using with his driver.
