The famous music streaming giant, YouTube is reportedly banning the 4K video feature for its users and moving it to the Premium Subscription.

It seems YouTube is desperate to get Premium users, in the start, it was 5 ads on videos and now the platform is thinking of locking 4K (2160p) videos behind a paywall too.

Testing for this new limitation has been started by Google as a number of free users reported that 4K videos on the platform are not available to them anymore.

However, just like 5 ads, this new limitation is also being tested on only a few free users. If you are a free user and not seeing this limitation on your account then, fortunately, you are not a part of this test.

YouTube Premium comes with a price tag of US$11.99 per month and is more expensive than most streaming media services. The membership allows you to watch videos without any ads and save them for offline viewing too. You also get unlimited skips for YouTube Music and new content on YouTube Originals.

Subscription for YouTube Premium is still not available in Pakistan which means people will have to use alternative methods, such as third-party apps like YouTube reVanced if they want to skip ads or watch videos in 4K. However, remember that these are unofficial versions of YouTube so use them at your own risk.
