Punjab Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani announced on Thursday that the provincial government plans to set fixed prices for chicken meat in collaboration with all stakeholders.

He met with a delegation led by Chairman of the Pakistan Poultry Association, Muhammad Nusrat, in Lahore. The group included representatives from the Punjab Poultry Association, Poultry Traders Association, and Broiler Farmers Association. The meeting focused on reviewing the chicken supply chain and pricing.

During the meeting, various options for setting broiler chicken prices were discussed. The Secretary of Livestock Punjab highlighted that chicken prices had surged by Rs70 per kg recently, a trend not attributed to supply and demand issues.

Furthermore, Chairman of the Pakistan Poultry Association, Muhammad Nusrat, shared business-related problems and concerns with the Provincial Livestock Minister.

The minister promised to address the Poultry Association’s concerns and said the Punjab government will set chicken prices with input from all stakeholders. He added that the government will allow a 15 to 20 percent profit margin on production costs and work to lower current high prices.
