Syed Aminul Haque, the Federal Minister for Information Technology Pakistan has said that more than 900,000 hacking attacks occur on daily basis in Pakistan.
While discussing the recent audio leaks of various political figures in the country, Pakistan’s National Security Committee held a pretty candid conversations with government officials for investigations.
The incident also initiated the revamping of legal frameworks as the government and technological institutes had to rethink national security policies.
However, popular firms that handle security advisories and identify local threats, like Mandiant, do not exist in Pakistan. These firms have professionals that deal in threat intelligence.
Hacking government officials and websites is common all over the world like the 2021 Colonial Pipeline hack when a ransomware attack stole 100 GB of data and brought the US company to a standstill.
When Joe Biden declared an emergency regarding the attack, the company decided to pay the ransom which costed them around 75 bitcoins or $4.4 million to the ‘DarkSide’, a group of hackers.
