The coalition Govt. gave out mixed signals regarding its decision on the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan.
Monday: The ruling coalition flashed mixed signals on its decision regarding the arrest of Former premier Imran Khan and offered no clarity on whether it wanted the former prime behind the bars or not.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting said that the coalition government’s major focus was on the floods in the country and the damage it was causing to the economy, foreign relations, and how the government could provide maximum relief to the masses, saying “we don’t have time for other things”.
Marriyum also stated that “accountability is a major feature of the government’s agenda but it believes that everything should move ahead as per the law and not by the politically vested interests”.
“It doesn’t matter what government wants because everything will happen as per the law,” she added further, “if we wanted to arrest Imran, we would have arrested him months ago but that’s not our focus.”
Imran has been criticizing the coalition government and campaigning for fresh elections in his public rallies after he was removed through a vote of no-confidence back in April.
Due to his status of being a major celebrity and head of one of the largest political parties, many political observers believe that arresting Imran would be difficult, especially, considering the episode on Sunday night when people gathered outside IK’s Bani Gala residence to prevent authorities from arresting him.
