Monday: The Primetime 74th Emmy Awards 2022 aired last night and the winners have made headlines.
Zendaya, 26, made history by winning the Emmy award for lead actress in a drama series for her performance in “Euphoria.” She is the first black women to win an Emmy twice for lead actress in a drama series.
She also became the youngest lead actress to win 2 Emmy awards. Zendaya won leading actress in 2020 for “Euphoria” too.
Zendaya thanked the cast and crew of “Euphoria” during her speech and said,
“My greatest wish for ‘Euphoria’ was that it could help heal people, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who shared their story with me,” “I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like you are a Rue, I’m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me and carry them with her. Thank you so much,” she added further.
Lee Jung-Jae also made history by winning an Emmy for Squid Game and became the first Asian to win an Emmy award for best male actor in a drama series.
Squid Game also contributed in making another milestone as Hwang Dong-hyuk won best drama series director and became the first Asian to do so.
The winner for the best comedy series for the second year in a row was Ted Lasso, while Succession also went on to win outstanding drama award for a second year and the White Lotus” won top limited series.
Other actors in 74th Emmy winner’s list include Brett Goldstein, Amanda Seyfried, Jean Smart, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Michael Keaton, and Julia Garner.
