The Prime Minister’s authority to initiate appointments and establish positions has been rescinded. This decision, approved by the Federal Cabinet, assigns this responsibility to Ministers, Ministers of State, and Secretaries.
Previously exclusively held by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, this authority has now been redistributed following the Cabinet’s endorsement of proposals. Under the new arrangement, Ministers, Advisors, Ministers of State, and Secretaries will now possess the authority to initiate appointments and establish vacancies.
Government insiders have revealed plans to bolster ministries and divisions with proficient professionals. The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Establishment Division, will spearhead the initiative to create positions for these experts. Recruitment procedures will adhere to a competitive process supervised by a specialized selection board.
The appointment process will entail consultants undergoing scrutiny and approval from the respective Minister, Minister of State, or Advisor. Likewise, the appointment of research associates and young professionals will necessitate approval from the relevant Secretary.
Nevertheless, the appointment of technical advisors will still require approval from the Prime Minister.
This restructuring is designed to infuse expertise and efficiency into governmental operations, fostering a merit-based approach to appointments across various sectors. With authority decentralized, a more efficient and responsive administrative structure is expected, leading to enhanced governance and effectiveness in delivering public services.
