The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a caution regarding the possible onset of gusty winds, thundershowers, and hailstorms in the province from today until April 29.
A spokesperson for the PDMA emphasized the significance of citizens exercising vigilance and implementing necessary safety measures to safeguard themselves during the anticipated severe weather conditions.
As per the spokesperson, there is a likelihood of hailstorms occurring in different areas of Punjab, prompting worries regarding potential harm to property and infrastructure. In light of the forecast, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has directed deputy commissioners throughout the province to stay alert and initiate preemptive actions to minimize risks and address any emergencies promptly.
Kathia stressed the importance of relevant departments maintaining vigilance and readiness, while emergency response agencies should be prepared to tackle unforeseen circumstances. District Emergency Operation Centers across all districts have been placed on high alert status, with the PDMA control room conducting continuous monitoring around the clock.
To ensure swift responses to emergencies, the DG urged rescue agencies, including Rescue 1122, to keep their equipment and personnel prepared for deployment.
Furthermore, safety advisories have been disseminated to citizens, cautioning them to avoid electric poles and dangling wires. It has been emphasized that seeking shelter in secure locations during lightning and stormy weather is paramount, and individuals are advised against venturing outdoors when weather conditions pose a risk to personal safety.
