Sindh Reports More than 4100 Cases of Dengue and Malaria

KARACHI: Sharjeel Memon Sindh Information Minister has reported that 3,072 people were diagnosed with malaria while 1,098 others with dengue in the province.

He briefed the media about a meeting by CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah about the flood relief work where the surge in dengue cases was discussed.

9 people have lost their lives due to dengue in Karachi alone this month and further 15,101 people were screened among which 3,072 were found positive.

He said that at least nine people, all in Karachi, had lost their lives due to dengue fever during the current month.

The information minister has also said that, “The screening of dengue has also been conducted, in which 1,066 cases have been reported in Karachi, 11 in Mirpurkhas, nine cases in Hyderabad, 5 in Shaheed Benazirabad and 7 in Sukkur divisions during the current month.”

However, the minister said that no dengue case had been reported in Larkana. He also added that, “Flood-affected people can contact on control room numbers — 0229240106 and 0229240114 — from any area, city or village across the province for immediate medical help. Medical teams will immediately rush to the affected area for help.”

CM Shah decided that relief goods would be distributed right from the union council-level so that it could reach every affected and displaced person.
