The news of Queen Elizabeth II came last night from an official announcement from the royal family. She was crowned at the age of 25 and ruled over Britain the heir to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.

Queen Elizabeth visited Pakistan twice, first in 1961 and then later on, in 1997. Here is a look back at the Queen’s tours of Pakistan.

1961 – Queen Elizabeth rode in a convertible through the streets of Karachi and waved at the crowd.
1997 – The Queen standing with Pakistani leaders at the Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad.
1961- Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip arrive at a gala in Lahore.
1997 – Queen speaking at a banquet hosted by the Pakistan President Farooq Leghari.
1997 – Queen Elizabeth visit a school as girls throw flower petals at her.
1961 – Queen Elizabeth arrives at a luncheon by the Governor of Peshawar.
1961 – Queen arrives at the State Banquet with Ayub Khan
