Buckingham Palace announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, in a short statement, triggering 10 days of national mourning the icon and longest-serving monarch in British history.
The statement issued said “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.”

Royal officials confirmed the Charles, Prince of Wales, who at 73 and the oldest of Queen’s will be known as King Charles III.
Charles wrote a heartfelt statement for his mother signed “His Majesty the King” that said, “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth and by countless people around the world.”
Earlier yesterday, the royal palace announced the news that doctors were “concerned” for Queen’s health.
