Qatar Expects 1.2Million Tourists for the FIFA World Cup

Qatar is all set to host FIFA World 2022 which is starting on 20th November.

The upcoming World Cup has caused the country to experience a rise in population. Qatar’s population has seen a 13.2% rise since last year as the state is attracting thousands of overseas employees.

According to the figures released, Qatar’s current population has increased by 370,000.

This Gulf State is expecting 1.2 million tourists from all over the world for the FIFA World Cup 2022. The huge rise in population has put enormous pressure on Qatar’s infrastructure, security, and hospitability.

The state has spent around $229 billion on infrastructure such as soccer stadiums, hotels, skyscrapers, and expressways as construction employs 50% of all population in Qatar.

Since the state needs help, Pakistan has agreed to send troops for security while Turkey will be sending 3000 riot policemen.

Migrant workers and other foreigners make up most of Qatar’s population, which is 380,000.

Qatar is expecting 1.2 million tourists for the World Cup, which will put pressure on its infrastructure, hospitality, and security. Qatar is also hiring over 12000 temporary overseas employees to operate 6500 fan rooms of all the residences.

Accor is hiring 12,000 temporary overseas workers to operate 65,000 fan rooms in apartments and residences.
