Punjab Plans To Utilize AI To Monitor 19 Traffic Violations

The Punjab provincial government has opted to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) for monitoring traffic violations. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz previously urged provincial traffic authorities to embrace AI for enhanced enforcement of traffic regulations.

AI will assist provincial traffic authorities in identifying the following violations:

  1. Disobeying traffic signals
  2. Triple riding
  3. Driving against the traffic flow
  4. Having tinted or covered glass
  5. Ignoring line/lane/zebra crossing rules
  6. Driving where prohibited
  7. Performing one-wheel stunts
  8. Emitting excessive smoke
  9. Riding a motorcycle without a helmet
  10. Not fastening seatbelt
  11. Violating parking regulations
  12. Exceeding speed limits
  13. Overloading vehicles with passengers or goods
  14. Driving at night without proper headlights
  15. Blocking traffic flow
  16. Using mobile phones while driving
  17. Operating an unregistered vehicle
  18. Driving in violation of the age limit (underage or juvenile driver)

Recently, Lahore City Traffic Police implemented a Helmet Enforcement Drive, banning helmet-less motorcycle riders from Mall Road.
