On Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif sanctioned funds for 630 new public buses to bolster the urban transport system.
These buses will serve cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur.
The approval took place during a session of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development, attended by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Senator Pervez Rasheed, the Chief Secretary, Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Chairman P&D, and Secretaries of Finance, Local Government, and Information, among others.
During the meeting, the committee discussed various development initiatives, including allocating funds for the upgrade of Government Pilot Boys High School on Wahdat Road. Additionally, approval was given for providing 150 e-bikes to female police officers.
Furthermore, decisions were made to approve a special allowance for 332 under-officers of the Anti-Terrorism Department.
Moreover, plans were outlined for establishing a Water and Sanitation Services Company in Sahiwal. Additionally, the Lahore Development Plan is set to receive Rs. 34 billion for various development schemes.
Officials also tentatively agreed to elevate Government Syed Muhammad Hussain TB Hospital Samli to a general hospital. After receiving a briefing on the establishment of field hospitals in various locations in Murree, the Chief Minister instructed the immediate release of all funds for the upgrading of Tertiary Care Hospitals.
