A judicial magistrate grants two-day physical remand of the PTI leader Shahbaz Gill to the police.
On Wednesday (9th August), a judicial magistrate granted the police two days of physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill in a sessions court in Islamabad.
The police requested Gill’s physical remand for 14 days which was opposed by his lawyer. Nonetheless, the judicial court approved the request and granted a two-day physical remand.
The government confirmed yesterday that Shahbaz Gill had been arrested on charges of sedition and inciting the public against state institutions. Gill was presented in front of Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir. Meanwhile, PTI claims that this was “an abduction [and] not an arrest”.
Shahbaz Gill stated to the media representatives that “this is a political case”, “Pakistan Army is the most sacred institution” and “it is imperative we all respect the institutions”.
