Today, the Pakistani rupee bounced back against the US Dollar, starting at 278 in the interbank market, reversing yesterday’s losses.
The Pakistani rupee remained mostly stable throughout the day, closing higher against the US Dollar and other major currencies. The interbank rate held steady at 278 for the majority of the day, maintaining the same level at closing. Open market rates across various currency counters also stood at 278 throughout the day.
The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) strengthened by 0.04 percent, closing at 278.11 after gaining 12 paisas against the dollar today.
On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has appreciated by 2.83 percent. However, it has faced a significant decline overall, losing nearly Rs. 51.05 since January 2023 and Rs. 95.05 since April 2022 against the US dollar. In today’s trading, the PKR gained 12 paisas.
In the interbank market, the PKR showed strength against most major currencies today. It gained three paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR), 32 paisas against the Euro (EUR), 90 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD), and Rs. 1.12 against the British Pound (GBP).
Meanwhile, it gained 17 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) in today’s interbank currency market.
