The news was announced on Twitter on Wednesday by scriptwriter Khalil-ur-Rahman, who posted what appeared to be the book cover.
The actors from the drama, Humayun Saeed, Ayeza Khan, and Adnan Siddique, are all shown on the cover together. The book which was published by Aks Publication drew mixed reviews. Many online readers wanted the author to write about a subject that is more pertinent to the state of the nation.
Users on social media also voiced their displeasure with the author’s portrayal of women in the drama. Instead of having strong women as role models, they would rather read stories about “poor males.”
When Meray Paas Tum Ho debuted in 2019, it quickly gained popularity among the general public for a variety of factors. It attracted a lot of criticism for its misogynistic portrayal of women and highlighted a tale of a lady cheating on her spouse.
So much so, a female petitioner even attempted to invoke the law to prevent the show’s final episodes from airing in January 2020 because she found the plot and foul language to be too demeaning to women. However, the petition was swiftly dismissed by the Lahore Civil Court judge.
