Mubasher Qadeer Abbasi, President of Dairy Farmers Karachi, has cautioned about an impending hike in milk prices in Karachi, potentially by Rs. 50 per liter.
He attributed the anticipated increase to the high cost of milk production, rising cattle prices, and governmental neglect of these concerns.
Abbasi urged the Karachi Commissioner to promptly issue a notification aligning with the increased costs of milk production. He stressed that if authorities fail to announce the price hike by May 10, stakeholders would collectively decide to raise prices.
Recently, the Karachi Commissioner issued a notification concerning the prices of essential food items. In accordance with Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah’s directives, a price control program was initiated to regulate prices through a designated list.
According to the notice, wholesale prices for dairy farm milk were established at Rs. 180 per liter, while retail prices were set at Rs. 200 per liter.
