According to reports, the federal government has spent Rs. 256.3 million or 25 crores for security arrangements in Islamabad to curb PTI’s long march that never reached the capital.
However, the Interior Ministry had approved a budget of only Rs. 39.92 million.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) march against the government ended in Rawalpindi before it reached Islamabad.
The amount of Rs. 256.3 million was spent on security arrangements that included putting containers at the entry points of the city, tear gas shells, and accommodating security forces.
13,800 security personnel were hired including FC, Rangers, and Sindh Police and 2442 shells were used.
Ending the march in Rawalpindi, PTI chairman, Imran Khan announced on Saturday, “We will not be part of this country’s political system. We have decided to quit all assemblies”.
