The court rejects the police’s demand to extend Shahbaz Gill’s physical remand.

An Islamabad court rejects the police’s request to extend Shahbaz Gill’s physical remand in the sedition case on Friday and sent the accused back on judicial remand to jail.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, was presented before the judicial magistrate Umar Shabbir earlier today after the completion of his two-day physical remand.

According to Gill he was “tortured”. A medical exam of Gill was also conducted as per the court’s order and the report was submitted by the police.

Advocate General Islamabad Jahangir Khan Jadoon stated “a transcript is simply being read and we are unaware of who is behind the whole debacle” and that a polygraph test needs to be taken.

The court also directed all unnecessary people to exit the courtroom after Gill’s lawyer stated that the government’s interference in the case is clearly evident. He asked what was the advocate general present in the room.

The court has also permitted Shahbaz Gill to meet his legal team and PTI senior leader Fawad Chaudhry and others.
