Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized the necessity for Pakistan and Belarus to enhance their bilateral trade relations to fully capitalize on their potential.

Pakistan has diversified its exports to Belarus, encompassing items such as medicaments, optical/medical apparatus, rice, leather articles, textiles, cutlery, footwear, sports requisites, cotton garments, salt, and mangoes. Conversely, Pakistan’s imports from Belarus include agriculture tractors, fertilizer, wood pulp, and motor vehicles.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s prominent standing as the fourth-largest dairy producer worldwide, he underscored the country’s capability to emerge as a significant exporter in this domain.

He advocated for the exploration of new avenues and potential opportunities to leverage this prospect, suggesting that Belarus upgrade its tractors to meet Pakistan’s agricultural demands.

Despite recording a total trade volume of $19.05 million, the minister noted that this figure falls short of the actual trade potential between the two nations.

He referred to the outcomes of the 6th Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) session held in Minsk from January 12-13, 2023, during which both sides assessed ongoing bilateral cooperation in trade.
