Arshad Nadeem has etched his name in history by securing Pakistan’s first-ever individual Olympic gold medal. Competing in the javelin throw, Nadeem delivered a phenomenal performance with a throw of 92.97 meters, not only setting a new personal best but also marking the longest distance ever recorded in the event’s history.

In a highly competitive final, India’s Neeraj Chopra managed a throw of 89.45 meters, while Grenada’s Anderson Peters achieved 87.87 meters.

Nadeem’s second throw, a remarkable 90 meters, had already broken his previous record set during the World Athletics Championships, showcasing his consistent improvement and dominance in the sport.

In his third attempt, Nadeem threw 88.72 meters, falling just short of his earlier throw but further solidifying his lead. With such a commanding performance, Nadeem was well-positioned to secure the Olympic gold.

The competition saw the top 12 athletes advance to the final, with five out of six throwers from Group B qualifying directly.

Nadeem, widely regarded as Pakistan’s brightest hope in athletics, had previously won a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships and a gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
