The movie produced by Jemimah Khan will be Aly’s international debut and is set to release in January.
Pakistani star Sajal Aly shares the first look from her international debut, What’s Love Got To Do With It? produced by Jemima Goldsmith.
The movie follows the story of a documentary-maker and dating app addict named Zoe (Lily James), who only swipes right which leads to an endless stream of Mr. Wrongs, to her eccentric mother Cath’s (Emma Thompson) dismay.
Sajal stated, “I am thrilled to share my first look from What’s Love Got To Do With It?”. She also said that “And also the exciting news that the Toronto International Film Festival will host its World Premiere on Saturday, September 10.”
The Pakistani star plays the character of Maymouna. Sajal can be seen clad in a blush pink shalwar kameez with her head covered with a dupatta in the picture she shared. Her hair can be seen tied neatly in a braid with minimal makeup and surrounded by a bunch of people.
The movie is a cross-cultural rom-com that stars Lily James, Shazad Latif, Emma Thompson, Shabana Azmi, Sajal Aly, Mim Shaikh, and Asim Chaudhry. The film has been directed by Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.
