Ukrainian President and First Lady Under Fire for a Glamorous Photoshoot for Vogue Amid War
The Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and the First Lady Olena Zelenska have been photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the cover of Vogue’s online edition. The photoshoot has since sparked rage among the public.
People on Twitter have been especially vocal regarding how they feel about the couple posing for a photo shoot during the horrible war that has been raging on. Many have called out Zelenskyy for being a hypocrite while many others are simply shocked.
Although the photoshoot has received mixed reviews, in general, the public is baffled by the idea of pictures showing tanks and a war-torn country as the backdrop.
Speaking with the magazine, the First Lady expressed her feeling and stated “Frankly I don’t think anyone is aware of how we have managed emotionally.” She further added, “We’re looking forward to victory. We have no doubt we will prevail. And this is what keeps us going.”
Although the idea was to bring the spotlight to the country and how it has been dealing with war, it did not sit right with a lot of people and the couple has been under fire.
