Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), has called for a cabinet gathering of the 23-member provincial cabinet on May 6 at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House.
The agenda includes proposing approval for increasing benefits for provincial ministers, advisors, and special assistants. Official records indicate that the administration department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has prepared a summary to amend the Ministers, Allowances, and Privileges Act 1975.
The summary suggests doubling the allocated funds for house rent subsidy and decoration from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1,000,000, along with raising the rent for their residences from Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 200,000.
Additionally, the administration department’s summary proposes an extra Rs. 100,000 per month for the decoration and furnishing of ministers’ offices, covering expenses like furniture, carpets, air conditioning, and refrigerators, thus increasing the allotted funds to Rs. 1,000,000.
The summary underscores that there has been no increment in the perks of cabinet members since 2014, and given the prevailing inflation in the country, the government has initiated this step.
The agenda for the cabinet meeting comprises 15 items, including the approval of the budget for the current fiscal year and the acquisition of 18 vehicles for judges, among other issues.
