The Pakistani rupee weakened against the US Dollar, starting trade at 278 in the interbank market.
The Pakistani rupee remained relatively stable against the US Dollar but depreciated against other major currencies today.
The interbank rate hovered around 278.8 throughout the day before closing at the same level. Open market rates across various currency counters stayed steady around 278.
The PKR depreciated by 0.01 percent, closing at 278.37 after a loss of four paisas against the dollar today.
On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has appreciated by 2.69 percent.
However, since January 2023, it has decreased by nearly Rs. 51.47. Moreover, since April 2022, it has fallen by Rs. 95.47 against the greenback. Today’s exchange rate movements saw the PKR lose four paisas.
In the interbank market today, the PKR experienced losses against most major currencies. Specifically, it depreciated by one paisa against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR). Additionally, it lost 53 paisas against the Euro (EUR), 55 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD), and 56 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD).
In today’s interbank currency market, the PKR strengthened by 28 paisas against the British Pound (GBP).
