Monday: Ex-Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Latif Afridi shot dead in PHC.

According to the police, the reason for the murder is a family feud and the identified assailant, Adnan Afridi, is being held in custody.

Latif Afridi was moved to Lady Reading Hospital after being shot but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Last month the senior lawyer along with his son was acquitted in the murder of Swat Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Aftab Afridi and 3 of his family members.

While en route to Islamabad from Peshawar, Aftab Afridi and his wife along with their one-and-a-half-year-old grandson and daughter-in-law were attacked by unknown assailants in their car in April 2021.

However, then-SCBA president, Latif Afridi, had denied any involvement in the incident saying he and his son were being falsely implicated.

SSP Operations Kashif Abbasi said the killing seemed to be the result of a blood feud between the two families but further investigations are underway.

When the police officer was asked about the security arrangements in the high court, he said the police were looking into it and further actions would be taken if any lapse was found in security.
