Amir Nasr-Azadani, the Iranian footballer has been sentenced to death for backing women’s rights and protesting against the brutal death of Mahsa Amini.
FIFPRO, the world union of professional footballers claimed to be “shocked and sickened” by the decision that the football player will face execution in Iran.
However, a senior official of the Iranian Judiciary has denied the report made by a foreign-based news network that Nasr Azadani has received a death sentence.
The judiciary chief of Isfahan, where the 26-years-old footballer was arrested has said that Nasr-Azadani will carry the charge of “accessory to moharebeh” which has already been communicated to him, however, the final court sentence is pending until further investigation.
Moharebeh aka “waging war against God”, is a charge in Republic of Iran that carries death penalty for the accused.
