This year’s FIFA World Cup has seen a lot of milestones and adding another one to the list the first ever all-female team that will referee the Group E Costa Rica vs Germany clash today, Thursday.
This will be the first ever women referee squad in the FIFA’s Men World Cup. France’s Stéphanie Frappart will be the official referee and will be leading an all-female team along with the assistant Neuza Back of Brazil and Karen Díaz Medina belonging to Mexico.
Frappart has already made her debut at the sidelines this World Cup when she appeared as the fourth official in Ghana vs Portugal.
This is not the only milestone for Frappart as she was also the first female to officiate FIFA’s qualifying match of Latvia vs Netherlands. Stéphanie Frappart also has the honor of officiating in the UEFA Champions League.
Frappart will be joined by Japan’s Yoshimi Yamashita and Salima Muksanger of Rwanda.
