The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) presided over by Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail has approved the RLNG rates for 5 export-oriented sectors.
On Monday, the ECC approved the rate of $9 per MMBTU for export oriented-sectors namely sports, surgical, carpet, jute, and leather. The electricity rates of 9 cents per kWh and RLNG at $9 per MMBtu for these five sectors from 1st August 2022.
The Ministry of Commerce informed ECC that the government provides energy to these sectors at regionally competitive rates.
Rs. 20 billion for electricity and Rs. 40 billion for RLNG have been allocated in the ongoing fiscal year 2022-23 budget to supply energy at concessionary tariff to these five export-oriented sectors. This allocated budget will be revised quarterly.
The ECC also approved a grant of Rs. 750 million for the 75th Independence Day celebrations for the ministry of information and Broadcasting.
ECC also recommended the Federal Cabinet raise the tariff of indigenous gas to Rs. 1350 per MMBtu for export-oriented sectors and Rs. 1550 per MMBtu for the general industry.
