Tremors were felt in different cities.
Monday: Tremors of an earthquake were felt early morning in Islamabad and different cities of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
According to the officials, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.3 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was at a depth of 10km in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
The jolts were felt in different cities of K-P including Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Shabqadar, Abbottabad, and a few other areas. The fear and panic led people to leave their homes and come out into open places.
The earthquake was also felt in the suburbs of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Afghanistan suffered significantly due to the earthquake as it killed at least eight people in northeast Afghanistan and the casualties could rise, according to a regional official.
Mawlavi Najibullah Hanif, the spokesman for the provincial governer reported that the “Sunday night’s earthquake has caused financial and human losses in Kunar province.”
